New Delhi: Tension between Iran and the United States is now affecting global trade and shipping. Many ships coming from Gulf countries are facing restrictions. Iran had warned that any ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz without permission could be attacked. Some ships have already faced action.
In a recent incident, Iran stopped a chemical tanker linked to Togo. The ship, named MT Chiron, had 12 Indian crew members. The incident happened near Shinas in Oman. Iranian Coast Guard forces stopped the ship and fired warning shots. India’s shipping ministry said that all Indian crew members are safe.
There is still no final solution to the conflict. Talks between Iran and the United States are going on, but nothing has been decided yet. Iran has given a new proposal, asking to reopen the Strait of Hormuz first and take steps to end the conflict quickly. It also suggested that talks on its nuclear program can happen later. Right now, discussions between both countries have slowed down, and no agreement has been reached.
