New Delhi: Donald Trump has said that there could be “good news” about peace talks between the United States and Iran as early as Friday.
According to a report by The New York Post, discussions between the two sides might restart within the next 36 to 72 hours. When asked about this, Trump replied in a message, “It’s possible!”
However, Iranian media outlet Tasnim News Agency denied the claim. It said Iran has made no decision to hold talks on Friday and accused Trump of giving false information.
This comes after Trump decided to extend the ceasefire with Iran, giving more time for negotiations. Earlier, he had warned that military action could restart if talks failed, but now the US has not set a strict deadline.
Trump also mentioned that the decision to delay action came after requests from Pakistan’s leaders, including Shehbaz Sharif and military chief Asim Munir.
Meanwhile, Antonio Guterres welcomed the extension of the ceasefire, hoping it will lead to a peaceful solution.
Despite mixed signals from both sides, global markets reacted positively, showing hope that tensions between the US and Iran could ease soon.
