New Delhi: A BJP protest in Bahraich turned dangerous when an unexpected fire accident injured a party leader.
During the “Mahila Janakrosh March,” BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal was burning effigies of opposition leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi. A large number of party workers had gathered at the spot.
As she lit the effigy, it suddenly burst with a loud blast. People nearby said that a large amount of petrol or spirit inside the effigy may have caused the explosion. The flames quickly reached her face and hair.
Workers standing close by acted fast, put out the fire, and took her to the hospital in a police vehicle.
Doctors at Maharaja Suhel Dev Medical College said she has minor burn injuries on her forehead, and some of her hair was burned. Her eyes are safe, and her condition is stable.
After the video spread online, Akhilesh Yadav reacted, saying people should be careful while dealing with fire.
Officials have now started checking what exactly caused the blast inside the effigy.
