Weather conditions across Maharashtra are changing quickly, with both extreme heat and rainfall expected in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department has issued an important alert, and weather expert S. D. Sanap has shared key updates.
A heatwave is affecting many parts of the state, especially the Vidarbha region, where temperatures are expected to cross 40°C in all districts. Cities like Pune are also under a yellow alert due to rising heat levels.
At the same time, the state is facing a double challenge. The weather department has predicted thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall in several areas over the next four days. This means while temperatures continue to rise, rain is also likely. Just a few days ago, unseasonal rain caused damage in many regions, and similar conditions may return.
In Solapur, a yellow alert has been issued for heatwave conditions. The temperature recently reached 43.2°C, and similar extreme heat is expected to continue for the next week. Authorities have advised people to step outside only if necessary. A special heatstroke ward has also been set up as a precaution.
In Nagpur, the temperature was recorded at 42.2°C, while Akola saw the highest temperature at 44°C. After a brief cooling period due to earlier rains, temperatures have increased again by 2–3°C in just two days. Due to the intense heat, fewer people are seen on the roads during the afternoon.
The weather department has warned that dry and hot conditions will continue for the next 3–4 days, and people should take extra care while going outside. In Nandurbar, temperatures have also reached around 42°C, and residents have been asked to stay alert.
Meanwhile, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is likely to experience unseasonal rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for April 15 and 16, followed by a yellow alert on April 17. Strong winds of 50–60 km/h along with rain are expected. Sudden weather changes may lead to incidents like falling trees and power outages, so residents are advised to remain cautious.
Overall, Maharashtra is currently facing a mix of extreme heat and sudden rain alerts, creating difficult weather conditions for people across the state.
