Mumbai: Maharashtra government has decided to connect the Ladki Bahin Yojana with other government programs to help women become financially stronger. CM Devendra Fadnavis said women will soon get support to start their own small businesses.
He shared this information at the Viksit Bharat Nari Shakti Sangam held in Bhayandar. The program focused on encouraging leadership among rural women.
Fadnavis said that when women get more opportunities in jobs and business, a country develops faster. Because of this, the state government wants to create more chances for women to earn and grow their own businesses.
Under the new plan, women will be able to get interest-free loans without any guarantee through Mumbai Bank. The money that women receive under the Ladki Bahin scheme can also help them repay these loans.
The scheme will be carried out through the Umed Scheme. The government also plans to set up “Umed Malls” in different districts where products made by women will be sold. This will help women find buyers for their goods and grow their businesses.
Fadnavis also said women are very responsible with loans. While many government loan schemes have about 50% repayment, loans given to women’s self-help groups have more than 99% repayment, showing their strong financial discipline.
