Mumbai: India Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures are rising quickly across Maharashtra. People have started feeling strong heat during the day, especially in coastal areas. Due to the rising temperature, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane district and Palghar district.
According to the weather department, Mumbai’s temperature may reach around 40°C today, while some suburban areas could even see 43°C. Officials have advised people to avoid going out in the afternoon and stay hydrated. The temperature in the city is expected to remain much higher than the normal average.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Raigad district and Akola. Some areas in Vidarbha may also experience heatwave-like conditions due to dry winds. The weather department has asked residents to stay careful over the next few days.Meanwhile, regions like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Solapur and Jalgaon have already recorded temperatures close to 38–39°C. The weather department has warned that hot and humid conditions may continue in many parts of Maharashtra for the next few days.
