Mumbai: The heat has started increasing across Maharashtra and people are feeling the strong summer conditions. In many areas, the temperature has already crossed 36°C and may soon reach 40°C.The weather department has given a heat alert for the next two days in the state. Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts are under a yellow alert because hot and humid weather is expected.
Temperature may rise in coming days
According to the weather department, temperatures in Maharashtra and Gujarat may increase by 2 to 3 degrees during the next week. Coastal areas like Mumbai and Konkan may experience hot and humid conditions on 8 and 9 March.
Weather expert S. D. Sanap said that the temperature in many parts of the state could cross 40°C by the end of March.
Vidarbha facing strong heat
The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Amravati, where it reached 40.8°C. In the districts of Akola, Amravati and Wardha, the temperature may cross 40°C in the next two days.
These districts have received a yellow heat alert. Temperatures here may stay around 5°C higher than normal. In other parts of Vidarbha, temperatures may remain 38°C to 40°C.
Heat increasing in Pune
People in Pune are also experiencing hot weather. In the last two days, the temperature has been about 2 degrees higher than normal. The city is recording temperatures between 36°C and 37°C, and it may increase further in the coming days.
Today,
Pune recorded around 35°C to 36°C. Other cities also saw high temperatures:
Sangli – 37.4°C
Satara – 36.1°C
Nashik – 36.6°C
Temperature rising in Marathwada
The Marathwada region has also seen a rise in temperature during the last few days. Many places are recording 36°C to 38°C.
Today’s temperatures include:
Parbhani – 38.5°C
Dharashiv – 36.2°C
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 37.6°C
Beed – 36.6°C
Udgir – 37°C
The weather department says the heat may increase slowly in the next few days, especially in South Maharashtra. People are advised to drink plenty of water and avoid strong afternoon sunlight.
