Panaji, Feb 22: The Swabhimaan Police Awards ceremony was held at the Kala Academy on Friday. The event honoured outstanding service and bravery of personnel of the Goa Police. Officers from different ranks were felicitated for their contribution to law and order and public safety in the State.
The ceremony highlighted the force’s role in managing heavy tourist inflow and major festivals, strengthening crime detection, tackling cybercrime and maintaining traffic discipline. Officials noted that these efforts continue to play an important part in keeping the State safe for residents and visitors.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees for their exemplary service and dedication. Khaki stands for responsibility, courage and public trust. The unwavering commitment of our police personnel has significantly contributed to making Goa one of the safest states in the country. The Government remains firmly committed to strengthening the force through modernisation and continued welfare support.”
CM Dr. Sawant further emphasised the importance of citizen participation in effective policing through community outreach, tourist assistance services and awareness campaigns on women’s safety and cybercrime. Welfare initiatives focused on housing, healthcare and career development, he noted, are aimed at supporting personnel and sustaining morale within the force.
Dignitaries present on the occasion included MLA Govind Gaude, Kala Academy Chairman Chandrakant Kavlekar, senior police officer Ajay Sharma, representatives of Rajshri Creations, awardees and their families.
