Mumbai: A fake and misleading video of renowned writer and poet Javed Akhtar has gone viral on social media, creating confusion and controversy. In the video, Akhtar is allegedly shown wearing a cap and claiming that he has changed his beliefs and become deeply religious.
Javed Akhtar has strongly denied the claims made in the video and clarified that it is completely fake. He stated that the video was created using deepfake technology and that the image of him wearing a cap was computer-generated.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Akhtar shared a detailed post calling the viral video a bundle of lies and misinformation. He said the content was deliberately edited to damage his reputation and mislead people.
The fake video also claims that Javed Akhtar accepted God after a discussion in Delhi. Responding to this, Akhtar said that his words from an old discussion were selectively edited and presented in a completely false context.
Warning of strict action, Javed Akhtar said he would file a complaint with the cyber police and pursue legal action against those who created and circulated the fake video.
Many social media users initially believed the video to be real, highlighting the growing danger of deepfake videos and misinformation. Akhtar is among several public figures who have recently fallen victim to such digital manipulation.
This incident once again raises serious concerns about the misuse of technology and the spread of fake news on social media platforms.
