New Delhi: T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7. But Bangladesh has created a big problem by saying it will not play any matches in India. The Bangladesh Cricket Board says its team does not feel safe travelling to India. Because of this, they want all their matches to be held only in Sri Lanka.
The ICC tried to settle the matter through online talks, but Bangladesh did not agree. Now the ICC plans to send its officials to Bangladesh for direct discussions.Bangladesh’s sports advisor said the team wants to play in the World Cup, but only in Sri Lanka. “We are ready to play, but not in India,” he said.
The ICC has replied that changing venues so late is very hard. They have asked Bangladesh to think again. Still, Bangladesh officials remain firm and say their decision will not change.
If no solution is found, the ICC may drop Bangladesh from the tournament and give their place to Scotland.
