Baramati: The by-election in Baramati, after the death of Ajit Pawar, is no longer simple and may turn into a big political fight.
The NCP is expected to give a ticket to Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar. Earlier, MP Supriya Sule had said her group would not put a candidate against Sunetra Pawar.
But now, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has taken a different stand. He said Congress does not agree with this decision. If NCP does not contest, Congress may field its own candidate in Baramati.
This has created confusion inside the alliance and may lead to a tough three-way contest.
At the same time, OBC activist Laxman Hake has also said he will contest the election. He even suggested that Sunetra Pawar should go to the Legislative Council instead of contesting this seat.
Voting will be held on April 23, and the result will come on May 4.
