Mumbai: The budget session of Maharashtra Legislature is currently underway, where sharp debates are taking place between the ruling party and the opposition.DCM Sunetra Pawar presented a statement in the legislature highlighting the steps being taken for women’s welfare in the state.
During her speech, Pawar said the government is trying to pass the Shakti Law soon to strengthen women’s safety. She also announced a special relief for women employees working in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region through a “Come Early–Go Early” policy.
According to this policy, women government employees can come to the office between 9:15 am and 9:45 am. If they start work early, they will be allowed to leave the office earlier in the evening by the same amount of time, up to about 30 minutes. This step is expected to help women avoid heavy rush hours while travelling.
Pawar also spoke about several government schemes for women such as Ladki Bahin, Lek Ladki, Annapurna and Lakhpati Didi. She said the government is working to improve facilities in anganwadi centres and has already provided drinking water to more than 17,000 centres across the state.
