During the campaign, the ruling BJP and Shinde-led Shiv Sena have been highlighting the Ladki Bahin Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible women receive financial help from the government.
Earlier, the state government planned to give 3,000 to women on January 14. This included 1,500 for December and 1,500 for January. Since this payment was scheduled just one day before voting, opposition parties claimed it was meant to influence women voters. The complaint was sent to the State Election Commission.
After examining the matter, the Election Commission gave a clear order. It said the January payment cannot be released before the elections.
Now, women beneficiaries will get only 1,500 on January 14. This will be the amount for December. The remaining 1,500 for January will be paid after the election process is over.
This decision has changed the government’s plan and has become an important issue in the election campaign.
