New Delhi: United Kingdom, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is working to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This sea route is very important for oil transport across the world. India has also been invited to take part in the talks.
Around 30–35 countries are joining this meeting online. India is being represented by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. Government spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India is actively taking part.
The meeting is happening because tensions in West Asia have stopped ship movement in the Strait of Hormuz. Many ships are stuck, and this is affecting the global supply of oil and gas.
The main goals of the meeting are:
Restart ship movement
Keep ships and sailors safe
Bring back normal oil and gas supply
The talks are being led by UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper. In the first step, countries are discussing peaceful solutions.
At the same time, India is in touch with Iran. India wants to make sure its ships carrying LPG, LNG, and other goods can travel safely.
These talks are important to reduce tension and keep the world’s energy supply running smoothly.
