Nagpur: A fire broke out in a slum near Yashwant Stadium in Nagpur on Monday morning. Four huts were completely burnt in the incident, leaving several families without a place to stay.
The fire started suddenly near the Udaasi Ashram area. The flames spread fast and the huts were destroyed. Clothes, food and other household items inside the huts were also burnt. After getting the information, the fire brigade reached the spot and controlled the fire.
Mayor visits the area
After hearing about the incident, Nagpur Mayor Nita Thackeray visited the spot with local corporators and officials. She met the families who lost their homes and asked about the damage.
Corporators Vinay Dani, Sunil Hiranwar, Pooja Pathak, Dhanashree Deshpande and Assistant Commissioner Rajkumar Meshram were also present.
Temporary stay for families
The mayor asked officials to help the affected families quickly. She told them to arrange temporary places for the families to stay.
She also spoke with victims Basanti Thakur, Yogesh Thakur, Rajendra Singh Saddal and Suresh Thakur and promised support.
Help from government
Mayor Nita Thackeray said the city administration and state government will provide help to the affected families. She also said the matter will be shared with Chandrashekhar Bawankule so that the families can get support soon.
