New Delhi: The conflict involving United States, Israel and Iran is now affecting travellers in India. Due to the tensions in the Middle East, the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), which is used in airplanes, has increased sharply. Because of this, India’s largest airline IndiGo has decided to increase flight ticket prices.

The airline said the new charges will start from March 14, 2026, after midnight. Passengers booking flights from that day will have to pay a fuel surcharge. Depending on the destination, ticket prices will go up from ₹425 to ₹2,300.
For flights within India, IndiGo will charge an extra ₹425 per passenger. The same amount will apply to flights to nearby countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Travellers flying to Gulf countries will have to pay ₹900 more, while flights to Southeast Asia, Africa and West Asia will cost ₹1,800 extra. Tickets for travel to Europe will increase by ₹2,300.
In its statement, IndiGo said the price of aviation fuel has increased a lot because of the situation in the Middle East. The airline added that instead of raising the entire ticket fare, it has introduced a small fuel charge so that passengers do not face a very large increase in ticket prices.
Other airlines such as Air India and Air India Express have also announced similar fuel charges on their flights due to the rising cost of fuel.
