New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has gone to the Supreme Court against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in the state. The court heard the case on Mamata Banerjee was present in the court and spoke for herself.
She told the judges that West Bengal is being unfairly targeted. According to her, many voters’ names are being removed from the voter list. She also said the SIR process is being done very fast even though elections are coming soon.
“We have come here because we want justice,” Mamata Banerjee told the court.
Mamata Banerjee also criticised the Election Commission. She accused the Commission of removing voters’ names without proper checks. She said she had already complained to the Election Commission, but no one listened to her concerns.
After hearing the matter, the Supreme Court sent a notice to the Election Commission and asked for its reply. The court will hear the case again on February 9.
People across the country are now waiting to see how the Election Commission answers the court and what it says about the voter list review process.
