Nagpur: Elections were held in 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra on Thursday. Many people came out to vote, including first-time young voters and very old citizens. Still, voting in big cities remained low.
Mumbai recorded only 41% voting by afternoon. In one area of Colaba, less than 16% people voted. Cities like Pune, Kalyan-Dombivli and Ulhasnagar also showed poor turnout.These elections are taking place after nine years, but many city voters did not step out. In contrast, smaller cities did better. Kolhapur crossed 50% voting and became the top city. Parbhani and Ahilyanagar also showed good participation.

Early trends show that people in big cities were less interested, while towns like Kolhapur came forward in larger numbers. Final figures will be known after polling ends.
