Mumbai: India bid an emotional farewell to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, as thousands of fans and dignitaries gathered to pay their last respects. Her funeral was held with full state honours at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
Many prominent leaders and personalities were present, including Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Raj Thackeray, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Sanjay Shirsat. Members from the film industry and social circles also attended and paid heartfelt tributes.
Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12. As soon as the news broke, people across the country expressed deep sorrow. Before the funeral, her body was kept at her residence in Lower Parel for the public to pay their final respects, where thousands of admirers came for a last glimpse.
Later, a large crowd joined the funeral procession. She was cremated with full state honours at Shivaji Park, marking a respectful goodbye to one of India’s greatest musical voices.
During her long and remarkable career, Asha Bhosle sang more than 12,000 songs in several languages including Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali, leaving behind a timeless legacy in Indian music.
