Kolkata; People in many parts of Kolkata felt light earthquake tremors on Tuesday night. The shaking scared residents, and many quickly came out of their houses and apartments.
The tremors were felt around 9 pm and continued for a few seconds. People said the ground moved gently but clearly. Thankfully, no injuries or damage have been reported in the city.
Officials said the tremors were caused by a strong earthquake in Myanmar, a neighbouring country. According to earthquake experts, Myanmar was hit by a 6.0 magnitude quake at a shallow depth, which allowed the vibrations to travel far.
Myanmar is known as an earthquake-prone area because of several fault lines. In the past, the country has seen many strong earthquakes that were felt in nearby nations, including India.
After the incident, authorities started checking the situation. Everything is normal now, and people have safely returned to their homes.
