Kharge’s farewell speech: Jokes on Athawale, praise for Harivansh

In the Rajya Sabha, Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge gave a farewell speech for members who are retiring.

New Delhi: In the Rajya Sabha, Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge gave a farewell speech for members who are retiring.

He praised Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh and said he is a calm and polite leader who runs the House nicely.

Kharge also made a funny comment about Ramdas Athawale. He said Athawale always praises PM Narendra Modi in poems and does not talk much about anything else. This made many people in the House laugh.

While talking about former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, Kharge joked that Gowda had good relations with him for many years but later supported Modi. Even PM Modi smiled at this.

Kharge also spoke about Sharad Pawar and said he is a big national leader. He said he is happy Pawar will continue in the House.

He thanked many other members for their good work and strong speeches on important issues.

Kharge said he has worked in politics for more than 50 years, but he is still learning. He said we can learn from leaders of different states and different ideas. He also said no one knows everything.

In the end, he said politicians never truly retire because they always want to serve the country.
