Junk Food Danger: Study says it may harm like Smoking

New study warns ultra-processed junk food may harm health like smoking, increasing risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

Nagpur: A new health study by experts from Harvard University, University of Michigan, and Duke University says that ultra-processed foods can be very harmful.Foods like chips, biscuits, cold drinks, instant noodles, and packaged snacks may damage health if eaten often.

Why Do We Keep Eating Them?

Have you noticed that once you start eating chips, you want to finish the whole packet?

These foods are made to taste very good. Companies add extra salt, sugar, and fat to make them more tasty. This makes the brain feel happy and want more. Because of this, people eat them again and again.

“Low Fat” Does Not Always Mean Healthy

Many packets say “low fat” or “sugar free.” But this does not always mean the food is healthy.

Sometimes companies reduce one thing and add something else to improve taste. So it is important to read the ingredients carefully.

Can Junk Food Become a Habit?

Yes, experts say junk food can become a strong habit.

Some people who stop smoking start eating more sweets or drinking soft drinks. Unlike cigarettes, we cannot stop eating food. That is why it is harder to control junk food.

Health Problems It Can Cause

Eating too much processed food can lead to:

Weight gain

Diabetes

Heart disease

High blood pressure

It also replaces healthy home food in daily meals.

What Should We Do?

Experts suggest:

Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables

Cook food at home

Avoid packaged snacks

Check food labels before buying

The main message is simple: eating too much junk food can slowly harm your body. It is better to choose fresh and simple food for good health.
