New Delhi: A 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit southern Iran on Tuesday. The tremor was felt in the city of Gerash in Fars province. The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake happened about 10 kilometers under the ground.Iran often faces earthquakes because it is located in an area where two large tectonic plates meet. Because of this, small and medium earthquakes are common there. A 4.3 magnitude quake is considered moderate and usually does not cause major damage.
The earthquake came at a time when tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel are already high. Due to the ongoing conflict, some people started guessing that the tremor might be linked to a nuclear test. However, experts say there is no clear proof of this. They believe it was most likely a natural earthquake, as such tremors happen regularly in that region. Officials are keeping an eye on the situation.
