New Delhi: India has received big relief after Iran allowed Indian ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz. This decision came after India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke on the phone with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.
Tension in the Middle East has increased because of the conflict between Iran and Israel. After a recent attack by the United States, Iran had stopped ship movement in the Strait of Hormuz for some time. Because of this, oil transport from Gulf countries was affected and many nations became worried about fuel supply.
During the call, Jaishankar asked Iran to make sure Indian ships and sailors remain safe in the region. After the discussion, Iran agreed to allow Indian vessels to travel through the route without problems. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes for oil transport in the world. A large amount of crude oil passes through this route every day. Since India depends on oil imports from Gulf countries, this decision will help keep fuel supply stable and avoid major problems.
