New Delhi: India lifted the T20 World Cup 2026 trophy after defeating New Zealand by a massive 96 runs in the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this win, Team India also became the first team to win the T20 World Cup in two consecutive editions.
Batting first, India played an outstanding innings and scored a huge total of 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. The strong start from the top order helped India dominate the match from the beginning.
Sanju Samson was the star with the bat. He played a brilliant knock of 89 runs from just 46 balls, hitting several fours and sixes. Abhishek Sharma also impressed with a quick 52 runs from 21 balls, while Ishan Kishan added a fast 54 runs from 25 deliveries. The three batters attacked the New Zealand bowlers and built strong partnerships that pushed India to a big score.
Later, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube added some powerful hits in the final overs, helping India reach the huge total of 255.
Chasing 256 runs was always going to be difficult for New Zealand, and the Indian bowlers made sure they never got close. Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel bowled brilliantly and kept the pressure on the Kiwi batters.
New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to build any big partnership. The entire team was finally bowled out for 159 runs.
India won the final by 96 runs and celebrated their third T20 World Cup title. The victory became a proud and historic moment for Indian cricket fans across the country.
