Mumbai: There is an exciting update for cricket fans as the International Cricket Council has shared new details about the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
14 Teams Will Play
This time, 14 teams will take part in the World Cup, which means more matches and more excitement for fans.
Three Countries Will Host
The tournament will be held in:
South Africa
Zimbabwe
Namibia
South Africa and Zimbabwe will directly qualify as hosts. Namibia will need to earn its place through qualifiers.
Top 8 teams in ODI rankings (by March 2027) will qualify directly.
Other teams will get a chance through qualifying matches.
Teams will be divided into 2 groups of 7.
Each team will play 6 matches.
Top 3 teams from each group will move ahead.
Best 4 teams will go to semi-finals
Winners will play the final
If a match is tied, a Super Over will decide the winner.
No more decision based on number of boundaries.
Umpires will give the first decision, and TV umpire will change it only if there is clear proof.
Boundary size must be at least 70 meters.
