Senior IAS officer Ashwini Bhide has been appointed as the new head of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). She will take charge on Tuesday and becomes the first woman to hold this important post in Mumbai.
At present, she is working as Additional Chief Secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. She has also worked on Mumbai Metro projects and is known for completing work on time.
With her appointment, Mumbai will now have women in two top roles. Ritu Tawde is the Mayor, and Ashwini Bhide will be the Commissioner.
