Mumbai: The war between Israel and Iran has become more serious, and its effects are now being felt around the world. Many international flights have been stopped due to safety concerns, which has badly affected tourism in Maharashtra. Travel agencies say almost 99 percent of holiday bookings have been cancelled as people are afraid to travel abroad.
After Israel attacked Iran, the United States also joined the conflict with military action. This increased tension in the Middle East. Iran later targeted American military bases in different countries, creating panic in Gulf nations such as Dubai. Because of the risky situation, several countries suspended flights to Gulf destinations, leaving passengers stranded.
Travel companies say nearly 90 percent of tourists planning foreign trips have cancelled their plans. According to travel operator Vishwajeet Patil, the tourism business is facing heavy losses as customers are choosing to stay back until the situation becomes normal. The global conflict has also affected markets and travel confidence.
Many Indian citizens from Maharashtra are currently stuck in Dubai and nearby regions after flights were cancelled. Pilgrims from Nashik, tourists from Jalgaon and Latur, and groups of students and senior citizens are waiting for flights to restart. Most of them are safe, but their families in India are worried and hoping for quick arrangements to bring them home.
