Gas crisis hits India: Big move on PNG connections soon

PNG (piped gas) connections may soon be given to more homes.

New Delhi: Because of the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States, many countries are facing problems. India is also affected. In some areas, people are not getting enough LPG cylinders. Due to this, the government is planning a big step. Like water and electricity, PNG (piped gas) connections may soon be given to more homes.

Production of PNG Increased

Because of the war in Gulf countries, LPG supply has reduced. To solve this problem, the government is increasing PNG production.

Earlier, about 9 lakh metric tons of PNG was produced. Now, it has been increased to 11 lakh metric tons. Local authorities have also been told to make rules easier so more people can get PNG connections.

A final decision may be announced soon.

Minister’s Message for Festival

Maharashtra minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that if people need LPG during the Jain festival “Ambil Ki Oli”, they can contact his office.

He said no one should face problems for cooking or religious activities.

MNS Reaction

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has raised questions on this. The party said no special treatment should be given to any one group.

They also warned that if gas is sold illegally at higher prices, they will take strict action.
