New Delhi: Voting is underway today in two major states — West Bengal and Tamil Nadu — as millions of people step out to cast their votes.
In Tamil Nadu, polling has started for all 234 Assembly seats at once. Around 57.3 million voters are expected to take part in choosing their new government.
Meanwhile, West Bengal is holding the first phase of its elections, covering 152 seats. A total of 1,478 candidates are in the race in this phase, and voters will decide their fate.
There is a tough political fight in both states. In West Bengal, the main contest is between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In Tamil Nadu, the battle is between the DMK-led alliance and the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
From early morning, long lines of voters have been seen outside polling booths in both states. Women voters, in particular, are showing strong participation and enthusiasm.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day as the voting continues.
