Nagpur: Bombay High Court bench in Nagpur has taken a strong step to control noise pollution in the city. The court ordered that loudspeakers placed without permission at religious places must be removed within seven days. The order was given by judges Anil Pansare and Nivedita Mehta while hearing petitions about rising noise in the city. The court said that many orders were already given earlier by courts, including the Supreme Court of India, but the problem has still not stopped.
To solve this issue, the court asked authorities to publish a public notice in newspapers. After the notice, religious places must remove loudspeakers that do not have official permission. If they fail to do it within seven days, the administration will remove them. The court also set some rules for loudspeakers that have permission. They must be installed at least 15 feet above the ground and should be placed inside the religious place only.
Apart from this, the court also spoke about loud music at weddings and other functions. Authorities were advised not to allow DJs or loudspeakers without permission. The court also asked officials to take action against people who burst firecrackers without approval.
The judges said these steps are needed so that people can live peacefully without too much noise. The court will later also look into noise caused by construction work and vehicles in the city.
