Nagpur: Maharashtra’s construction industry has received a major boost as Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced important changes to simplify procedures. The government will soon make excavation royalty and non-agricultural (NA) land conversion processes fully digital.
According to the minister, builders will no longer need to visit the District Collector’s office for NA permissions. This entire process will be moved online within the next 10 days, making it faster and more convenient.
One of the biggest decisions is related to excavation materials. If minor minerals extracted during construction are used at the same project site, no royalty will be charged. This move is expected to reduce project costs for developers.
The government has also decided to simplify the royalty payment system by allowing it to be valid for six months, making compliance easier.
During a meeting with CREDAI representatives, several long-pending issues of the construction sector were discussed and resolved. The focus was on reducing delays and improving ease of doing business.
Additionally, the successful “digital tracking system” used in Pune may soon be implemented across the state to ensure transparency. The government has also agreed in principle that property records should be updated immediately after registration.
Officials have been instructed to speed up the implementation of these decisions. Meetings with senior authorities have already been planned to resolve technical challenges quickly.
These reforms are expected to remove administrative hurdles and give a strong push to Maharashtra’s real estate and construction sector.
