New Delhi: India won the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match at Narendra Modi Stadium. The victory created a proud moment for cricket fans across the country.
PM Narendra Modi congratulated the players and said the team showed great talent, hard work and strong teamwork during the tournament. He said the win has made every Indian happy and proud.
India batted first and scored 255 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, which became the highest score ever in a T20 World Cup final. Sanju Samson played an important innings and scored 89 runs. Abhishek Sharma also impressed fans by hitting a quick half-century in just 18 balls.
Ishan Kishan scored 54 runs, while Shivam Dube added a fast 26 runs, helping India reach a big total.
Later, the Indian bowlers controlled the match. Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, and Axar Patel picked up three wickets. Because of this strong bowling, New Zealand were all out for 159 runs.
With this win, India made history. The team became the first to win the T20 World Cup three times and also the first team to keep the title for two tournaments in a row.
President Droupadi Murmu said the victory shows the talent of India’s young players. Leaders like Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge also congratulated the team for making the country proud.
The win has started celebrations across India as fans cheer for Team India’s historic achievement.
