Nagpur: Maharashtra government has made an important change in Pune’s administration. A new officer has been appointed to lead the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari is the new Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA. He is a 2011-batch IAS officer. Earlier, he was working as the head of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Now, he will handle development work in the Pune region.
He takes the place of Dr Yogesh Mhase. Dr Mhase has been shifted to Mumbai. He will now work in the Minority Development Department at Mantralaya.
PMRDA is currently working on big projects like the Metro line from Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, the Ring Road, and new town planning schemes. These projects are important to reduce traffic and manage Pune’s fast growth.
People are now expecting Dr Chaudhari to speed up pending projects and make the approval process for buildings and housing easier.
This change comes at a time when Pune is expanding quickly, and strong leadership is needed to complete major development works on time.
