New Delhi:The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won all five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar, giving a big shock to the opposition alliance.Earlier, based on the strength in the Bihar Assembly, it was expected that the NDA would win four seats and the opposition alliance Mahagathbandhan would win one. But the situation changed on the day of voting.
Four MLAs from the opposition alliance did not come to vote. Because of this, their candidate lost the support needed to win, and the NDA’s fifth candidate got an easy victory.
In the results, NDA candidates Nitish Kumar, Nitin Naveen, Ramnath Thakur, Upendra Kushwaha, and Shivesh Ram won the election. The opposition candidate Amarendra Singh Dhari was defeated.
Voting started in the morning in the Bihar Assembly, which has 243 MLAs. By the evening, about 202 NDA MLAs voted. But only 37 MLAs from the opposition alliance cast their votes, while four stayed absent.
Because of these missing votes, the opposition could not win even one seat, and the NDA took all five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar.
