New Delhi: India has received a big relief as the LPG tanker Shivalik LPG Tanker safely reached Mundra Port carrying around 45,000 tonnes of LPG.
The ship was earlier stuck near the Strait of Hormuz because of rising tension and conflict in the Gulf region. Due to the situation, many ships were not allowed to move through this important sea route.
After continuous talks and diplomatic efforts by the Government of India, Indian-flagged ships were given permission to pass through the route. Following this decision, the tanker finally completed its journey and reached India safely.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes in the world. A large amount of oil and gas used by many countries passes through this route every day. When ship movement slows down there, it can affect fuel supply in many countries, including India.
India imports a large amount of LPG from Gulf countries for cooking gas used in homes. The arrival of this tanker will help maintain the gas supply and reduce worries about possible shortages.
Another Indian LPG tanker, Nanda Devi LPG Tanker, is also expected to reach India soon with more LPG supply.
