New Delhi: Central government has blocked 242 illegal betting and gambling websites on Friday. With this step, the total number of such blocked sites has now reached around 8,000.
Officials said this action has become faster after the new Online Gaming law came into force. The aim is to stop illegal online betting and keep people, especially youngsters, safe from harm.
Government sources shared that many young users lose money and get trapped because of these platforms. These sites also create social problems. By blocking them, the government wants to reduce financial loss and protect families.
The new law supports safe online games and e-sports. At the same time, it puts a ban on risky money-based games and their promotion. The rules do not punish players. Instead, action will be taken against the companies, advertisers, promoters, and those who provide money to run such illegal platforms.
This drive shows the government’s strong stand against illegal online betting and gambling in the country.
