Mumbai: Famous Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal recently spoke about the difficulties singers faced in the music industry in the past. In a podcast interview, she said that earlier many singers did not get proper respect, payment or credit for their songs.
Shreya shared these thoughts while talking on a podcast hosted by entrepreneur Raj Shamani. She explained that around 2013 many singers started asking for royalty rights for their songs. Because of this demand, the music industry was divided and many artists had to face pressure.
According to Shreya, earlier there were no clear rules in the industry. Many singers worked without proper agreements. Sometimes payments were delayed and in some cases singers’ names were not even mentioned properly in songs.
She also said that after 2013 things slowly started improving. Artists began speaking strongly about their rights, and because of that the industry started changing. Shreya added that she respects singers who built their career on their own without any film background.
