Mumbai: A man arrested in the firing case outside the house of filmmaker Rohit Shetty has asked the court for temporary bail so he can get married.
The accused, Hrithik Yadav, told the special sessions court that his wedding is planned on March 11 in Agra. Because of this, he has requested the court to give him temporary bail to attend the ceremony. The court is expected to hear his request today and will decide whether to allow it or not.
Earlier, the court had sent Yadav to judicial custody under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). In this case, 12 people have been arrested and all of them are currently in jail. Police arrested seven of them, including Yadav, from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on February 14.
The firing incident happened on February 1 in Juhu, Mumbai, outside the building where Rohit Shetty lives. At least five shots were fired toward the first floor of the building. One bullet hit the glass of a gym inside the building, but no one was injured.
Later, a member of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, Shubham Lonkar, claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. He is also wanted in other cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique and the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s house in Bandra.
Police have also arrested several suspects from Pune in connection with the case. Investigators say the attackers used a motorcycle that was brought from Pune to Mumbai for the crime.
Now, the court’s decision on Yadav’s request for bail for his wedding is awaited.
