Mumbai: In IPL 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a simple change in the DRS rule.
Earlier, when a team took DRS, the umpire checked many things at once. Now, this will not happen.
What is the new rule?
Now, the umpire will check only the thing for which the team has taken DRS. Nothing else will be checked.
If a player wants to check something else (like a wide ball), they must ask for it within 15 seconds. After the final decision, no second chance will be given.
This rule will stop teams from using smart tricks and will make the game faster.
Rule for injured players
If a player gets a head injury, the team can replace him with a similar player from the substitute list.
If a wicketkeeper gets injured, another player from the team will do wicketkeeping.
If a foreign player is injured, the replacement will depend on team rules for overseas players.
These rules were told to all team captains before the tournament started.
