Mumbai: War in the Middle East is getting worse. Iran has carried out missile attacks not only on Israel and American bases but also in Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Oman, Dubai and Kuwait. Many Indians live and work in these places. A large number of them are from Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in the Assembly that the state government is in touch with people who are stuck there. A WhatsApp helpline number has been given. People are sending messages about their problems, and the government is trying to help them.
He said the government is making all efforts to bring people back safely. Air India flights are bringing Indians home from places where flights are allowed. But in some areas, the airspace is closed because of safety reasons, so rescue work is slow.
In Kuwait, some passengers who were in transit had visa problems. The Indian Embassy has arranged a safe place for them to stay so they do not face trouble.
Fadnavis also said Marathi groups in foreign countries are helping people. State Minister Girish Mahajan spoke to stranded citizens through video calls. The state government is sharing information with the Central Government, which is handling the overall rescue process. The Chief Minister said both the state and central governments are working together and will do everything possible to ensure the safety of Indians abroad.
