Blinkit drops 10-Minute promise to protect Delivery Workers

Blinkit Drops 10-Minute Promise to Protect Delivery Workers Quick-delivery company Blinkit has stopped using the line “10-minute delivery” on its apps and websites

Mumbai: Blinkit Drops 10-Minute Promise to Protect Delivery Workers Quick-delivery company Blinkit has stopped using the line “10-minute delivery” on its apps and websites. It has also changed its message to customers. Instead of talking about speed, the company now highlights the wide range of products it offers at people’s homes.

This step was taken after the government showed concern about the safety of delivery workers. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked quick-commerce firms not to set very tight delivery times. The government feels that such promises push riders to rush on roads, break traffic rules, and put their lives in danger.

When workers try to meet these short deadlines, they often face accidents, heavy tiredness, and mental stress. These problems came into focus when gig workers across India went on strike before New Year 2025. They spoke about unsafe work, long hours, and low pay, which started a bigger talk about how this industry works.

The issue was raised in Parliament too. MP Raghav Chadha spoke about the risks faced by delivery partners and the lack of basic security for them. He asked for safer work conditions and better support for gig workers.

After Blinkit’s decision, other fast-delivery companies like Swiggy and Zepto may also be asked to rethink their “10-minute delivery” promises.
