Mumbai: After the sudden death of senior leader Ajit Pawar in a plane accident, discussions about merging the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have started again in Maharashtra politics. Many leaders are now sharing new details about what plans were being discussed earlier.
MP Amol Kolhe recently spoke about these talks and revealed some important information. He said that if both NCP groups had merged, senior leader Chhagan Bhujbal was likely to be sent to the Rajya Sabha. According to Kolhe, this idea was mentioned during internal discussions led by Ajit Pawar.
Kolhe also explained that Bhujbal had earlier shown interest in becoming a Rajya Sabha member. However, political decisions at that time went in a different direction. He believes Bhujbal is an experienced leader who understands social issues deeply, and his presence in Parliament would have been important, especially during discussions related to caste census and OBC matters.
He further added that these were only internal conversations and not official announcements. Still, the revelation has created fresh debate in political circles, as leaders and supporters are now discussing what could have happened if the merger had taken place.
