New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Vijay has made a big move in Tamil Nadu politics. His party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, won 108 seats and became the largest party in the state election. On Wednesday, Vijay met Governor R. N. Ravi and said he wants to form the government.
The Governor said he has received TVK’s letter and will soon take the next steps. This is a big change because for many years, politics in the state was mainly between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
The Indian National Congress has supported TVK. With Congress’s 5 seats, the total becomes 113 seats. But 118 seats are needed to form the government, so they still need 5 more. TVK is now talking to AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami for support.
This election result has changed the state’s politics. DMK got 59 seats, and AIADMK got 47 seats. Vijay became popular among young voters by talking about jobs, corruption, and better governance.
DMK leaders are unhappy with Congress for supporting TVK and say it is a wrong decision. Now everyone is waiting to see if Vijay gets enough support and becomes the next Chief Minister.
