Nashik: Maha Shivratri will be celebrated on 15 February this year. On this special day, thousands of devotees are expected to visit the famous Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik district. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is considered very sacred.
Temple Timings Changed
To manage the heavy crowd, the temple will stay open from 4:00 am on Sunday till 9:00 pm on Monday without closing. The temple trust has made this change so that people can have darshan easily.
On Maha Shivratri, VIP darshan, paid darshan and entry inside the main sanctum will not be allowed. This step has been taken to give equal chance to all devotees.
People will enter from the east gate. From 14 to 16 February, local villagers can enter from the west gate till 10:30 am by showing their ID. After darshan, they must leave from the south gate. This special entry is only for local residents.
Security and Other Facilities
Police security will be strong in the temple area. CCTV cameras will keep watch on the crowd. The temple trust has also arranged drinking water, medical help and prasad distribution for devotees.
The temple has been decorated with lights and flowers for the festival.
Cultural Programs
On 14 February, singer Shridhar Phadke will present the musical program “Geet Ramayan” in the evening. On 16 February, there will be cultural shows including Kathak dance.On Maha Shivratri, devotees keep fast, offer water and milk to Lord Shiva, offer bel leaves and chant “Om Namah Shivaya” throughout the night.Temple officials have requested devotees to follow the rules and cooperate for smooth arrangements.
