New Delhi: Sonam Wangchuk said his release from jail is a happy moment, but the real issue is still not solved. He said clearly, “If Ladakh does not get what it needs, then my release has no meaning.”He came out of jail after spending around 170 days there. He was kept under the National Security Act, but the government later removed the order.
What is his main concern?
Wangchuk is fighting for the people of Ladakh. His main demands are:
Ladakh should get full state status
Local people should have more control over land and jobs
The area should be protected under special laws
Why is this important?
He says Ladakh is a very sensitive place:
It has glaciers and clean environment
Too much construction or outside control can harm nature
Local culture and traditions may get affected
What did he say after coming out?
Wangchuk:
Thanked people who supported him
Said the protest will stay peaceful
Asked the government to talk and find a fair solution
He also said he wants a solution where everyone benefits — the people, the government, and the environment.
What next?
Even after his release, the movement is not over. Wangchuk made it clear that the real success will be when Ladakh’s future is safe and secure.
