Mumbai: Actor Riteish Deshmukh is ready with his dream film Raja Shivaji, which he has been planning for the last 10 years. The movie will release in theatres on May 1.
The teaser was released recently and quickly caught people’s attention. Many liked how big and grand the film looks, but some people also shared their concerns.
Some viewers did not like Sanjay Dutt’s role. They said he often plays similar characters and doesn’t show much difference. In this film too, he is playing a villain.
The choice of Abhishek Bachchan as Sambhaji Maharaj also did not impress everyone. A few people said the characters do not look real enough and the casting could have been better.
Some fans felt that Riteish Deshmukh as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not the perfect fit. A few suggested Sharad Kelkar for the role, as they liked his performance in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
The film has many well-known actors like Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amole Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh.
Riteish said this film is very special for him. He worked on it for many years and feels that the greatness of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is much bigger than what we can show on screen.
