New Delhi: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi met Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Parliament today. His sister Priyanka Gandhi was also present. They came to talk about issues raised by a group of bus body builders from Rajasthan.
In the meeting, Gadkari spoke about safety problems in some buses. He said many buses are not built in a safe way. If a fire breaks out, passengers may not find a way to escape.
He also explained that in some buses, extra fittings like AC units block space and make things worse during an emergency. He said some builders ignore safety rules, and this can cost lives.
Gadkari made it clear that he will not support any work that puts people in danger. The discussion is important because there have been fire accidents in sleeper buses in the past. The government has already made new safety rules for bus design.
This meeting comes after Priyanka Gandhi had earlier asked to meet Gadkari to discuss these concerns.
