New Delhi: As counting continues for the assembly elections held in five states and one Union Territory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s democratic strength and thanked voters, the Election Commission, and security forces for conducting smooth polls.
Early trends show the BJP performing strongly in several regions. In West Bengal, BJP has moved ahead after an initial close contest with TMC. In Assam, BJP is leading, while in Kerala, UDF is ahead in the trends. In Tamil Nadu, the ruling DMK is maintaining its lead. In Puducherry, it will soon be clear whether Rangaswamy returns to power or if there is a change in government.
PM Modi said democracy in India is not just a system but a deep-rooted value. He stated that both democracy and the Constitution have emerged stronger through these elections and that record voter turnout reflects the trust of the people. He also highlighted the strong participation of women voters across states.
He said he shares the happiness of every BJP worker and described the day as special, adding that it reflects trust in performance, stability, and the vision of a stronger and united India.
The Prime Minister also congratulated election officials and security personnel for their efforts and thanked the people of all states for their active participation. He said the high voter turnout and peaceful elections show why India is known as the “Mother of Democracy.” He also mentioned BJP’s success in recent by-elections in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat, saying the results reflect people’s support for development-focused politics and stable leadership.
