Mumbai: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made a big change for people travelling on highways. From April 10, you cannot pay cash at toll booths anymore. All payments must be done digitally.
FASTag will be the main and easiest way to pay.
If you don’t have FASTag, you can pay using UPI.
Extra Money if No FASTag
If you pay by UPI without FASTag, you will have to pay 25% extra than the normal toll. So, having FASTag will save your money.
If you refuse to pay by FASTag or UPI:
You may not be allowed to go आगे (pass).
You can get an e-notice.
If you don’t pay within 3 days, the toll amount can become double.
No Free Exit with ID Card
Earlier, some people showed government ID and skipped toll in private cars. Now this is not allowed. Only officially approved vehicles will get toll-free entry.
Reduce long lines at toll plazas
Save time during travel
Make traffic move faster
Before you travel, make sure your FASTag is active. Otherwise, you will have to pay more.
